Our faculty in the anatomic and clinical pathology divisions have various research interests and have mentored many residents in research over the years. Research faculty in our department are nationally renowned and work closely with the Cancer Center and numerous clinical services. In addition, the basic science laboratories and scientists welcome residents to participate in their research. Collaborations with the basic science faculty are facilitated through the Pathology Seminar Series, Pathology Research Day, and journal club. Within the Department is Sarah Lathrop, D.V.M., Ph.D., an epidemiologist who is dedicated to helping residents in their research. Past research projects include epidemiologic studies of overdose deaths, immunohistochemical and molecular examinations of various hematopoietic disorders, and microarray analyses of surgical pathology specimens.
